Quercus robur 'Fürst Schwarzenberg'

Niles, MI(Zone 5a)

Does anyone have experience with this tree? I recently received one (hefty price) and it's certainly not what I had hoped for. The photos show a beautiful marbled leaf of greens to white but mine is simply dark green. The seller is being no help, so I turn to you. My only hope is that the variegation comes later in the season as does Ginkgo biloba 'beijing gold'.

I do not - but I'll offer the information that is found in Gerd Krussmann's seminal text Manual of Cultivated Broad-Leaved Trees and Shrubs (1986, Timber Press).

Quoting:
Weak growing conical form, densely foliate, spring growth a normal green, secondary growth (late July) nearly totally white at first; youngest leaves often pink, obovate, with 3-5 normally acute lobes on either side, tapered at the base, cordate auriculate, occasionally greening and then light green and rough above, more gray-green beneath, the whitish spots translucent from beneath (!), less so from above.

So...your supposition seems spot on. Patience, Grasshopper...

Thanks VV. Now I can move on to my next obsession...

Secondary leaves emerging. Not so pretty but I'm hopeful...
