I think the new growth on some of the spruces is as beautiful as flowers.
Check out picea abies pusch. It's really beautiful!

That's 'cause the rest of your Ginkgo selections are jealous - they've taken over your computer and are holding the Elm hostage.

Got it to work. Quite the vigorous grower...

That's pretty nice.

Which region of Chicago do you grow in? I am passing through those parts on the way to Milwaukee come the middle of June - things would be looking quite stellar for you then.

Oops, I've moved. Now in lower southeast Michigan. Sadly, I had to leave a slew of awesome trees behind. I did manage to dig out a 4 foot pinus contorta 'taylor's sunburst' and replant it here. It's just about ready to show off. And now I have 5 acres to Ginkgofy. Recent additions:

Peve Maribo
Anny's Zebra
California Sunset
Grindstone Lake

Did someone say "therapy"?

Not to tear in to old wounds. What did you leave?

Do a dybbuk search on this forum - it'll make you break down to read about the woody wonders...

Yeah, the list is long. Most regrettable are:

14 foot ginkgo 'ross moore'. A true weeper. *
10 foot ginkgo 'sunstream'. Best I've seen. *
10 foot metasequoia 'waasland'. Gorgeous. Underrated.
15 foot liriodendron 'ardis dwarf'. Beautiful. Disappeared from the market.
A crazy celtis 'green cascade'.
A patiently trained acer palmatum 'ryusen'.
An odd variegated magnolia. McCracken's variegated.

*i have grafts from these parents.

Oh well. A new chapter...

Dybbuk,
I hope, at least, that the buyer of your old home appreciated what they were getting?!
