Have any of you ever heard of a severe allergic reaction (severe blisters and swelling) from handing Protea's (king, pink mink, and pin cushion) or Tropic freun Heliconia. My sister is extreamy sick and they have ruled our almost everything else the doctors and we can think of. I sent her the flowers and after handing the flowers four times in 10 days she developed the reaction. it may be compleatly unrelated to the flowers but we are grasping at straws

hello robinson008...i know nothing but "shorthog" is a toxicologist and a reliable source of information. he may not have information regarding the plants you mention, but it is worth a try. you can dmail him and ask.
I am sure there is no allergic reaction to any of the proteas,, and I doubt the Lobsterclaw,heliconia. If the flowers were from a florest ,could it be a chemical or residual pesticide?
