Hanging fern garden

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Hello,

I'm planning to create a hanging fern harden, I have a mesh cylinder I plan to fill up with some good draining material and I want the ferns to grow out of the gaps of the mesh. I need ideas as to what species of ferns I should use. I want ferns that do not grow big. The only ones that are not too big and are available in plant stores are some adiantums that are sometimes I see for sale.

I would be also interested in the kinds that grow air roots and after long life these roots surround the pot and it looks like a big ball that ferns grow out of. I have no idea how even to start looking for them.

I would like to buy growable pieces of these kinds of ferns if any one has them for sale.

I live in San Diego on the coast so temperature is not at issue.

Maybe Phlebodium aureum, or Micrtosorum scolopendria would work.
