Water? Are you keeping it trimmed - It needs a bit of drying out time.

Many plants that show yellowing leaves are in distress from a magnesium deficiency in the soil.

Tn is heavy soil, plants cant take up nutrition unless well mixed with lime when fertilized. Do you add lime to your fertilizers? Are your plants in ground or in pots?? Basils like a garden soil that is ph balanced.

basil doesn't need a lot of coddling, I've found out over the years. It grows in Provence, which has a dry, rocky soil. I don't kill many plants, but i"ve killed basil by overwatering and coddling them in a giant pot with water-retaining potting soil. They grow better at my garden plot at work, which isn't very fertile, heavy clay, and nutrient-poor. I feel sure there's a middle ground, but I don't know what it is. Basil doesn't tolerate a whole lot of neglect, but I recommend that you not treat it like a fern.
