Lawn burweed (Soliva pterosperma) is the bane of every Florida yard. Hire a company to come and spray for them in winter. They flower in spring, so it is vital to treat your yard BEFORE they bloom.

In your yard, you probably have Cenchrus. It is a genus of about 25 species of grasses in the family Poaceae. Common names include buffelgrasses, sandburs, and sand spur. Drag a burlap sack around the yard to try to pick up the sand burs. I would imagine you would want to weigh it down as well. A yard vac would help pick some of them up. Image herbicide is supposed to be safe for lawn grass but will kill Cechrus. Again, check with a landscaping company.

I have Solvia ALL OVER my yard, so my plan is to contact/hire a company to come and spray for them this fall.

thank you !!!!
