Arbor (for grapes)

My fiance and his father built this for me as an early birthday present. I just wanted something nice to grow my grape plants on and attach a swing (currently on order). I guess my main question is this: Does anyone know if the arbor will work "as is" for grapes or do I need to put some type of lattice, wire, or crossbeams over the top for them to grow across?
