I have a very large pot that I have had the Dianthus that is sold in 6 packs as an annual in for going on 3 years. I just sheared it back and the plants are very woody and look a bit ratty this year. We have had very cold weather up to last week and now are having summer time temperatures. Everything is finally starting to pop and grow. I'm not sure about these plants. I may pull them out and replant new "annual" Dianthus in the pot. After the first year, these types of Dianthus bloom heavily in the spring and then only sparsely the rest of the summer. If I replant, I will get constant bloom for this year, at least.
Are there any new varieties of this type of Dianthus that anyone is aware of that I should be looking for? I've done google searches but nothing really new is coming up for "annual" Dianthus. Thanks,
