Chinkapin oak seedling severed

Laingsburg, MI

A two foot Chinkapin Oak seedling I planted last November in my garden was chomped down to around six inches in height. Is there any hope tha it will bud out on the remaining stem and survive?

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

It should do, yes. But best to give it some protection so that it can't be eaten a second time.
