plant ID please

For an ID, the Plant Identification forum gets at least 100 times as many viewers and will produce quicker results. For ID purposes a close-up of the flowers and another of the foliage is most helpful. Difficult to ID from this distance. Your description of the leaves seems to eliminate Bidens and Coreopsis as possibilities.

Agreed on the forum. Sort of looks like helenium.

Well, it's nice to be asked. Maybe a Balsamorhiza of some variety?

I do think a close up of flowers and foliage would be necessary to get proper ID.
