Black Birds Have arrive. Red Wing Black Birds, Starlings, Crackles, and what ever else is mixed in. When I come to the window to try getting a few shots the all fly off. Will try some other tactics tomorrow. Last year or was it was the year before I had to set up the Bird Cam to get any good shots. Will see what tomorrow brings.

We seem to be a stopping off point for both the fall migration and spring arrival. Quick guess today about 500 birds have arrive. It will increase to so many that we cant even guess how many.
then they will leave on their way to summer camp grounds. A few will stay with us for the summer.

In the mean time I will look threw the archives to see what I can post that is interesting. We have about 20,000 photos of either Gardening or Birds.

Have a great evening,
John

Cute little downy.....not much activity at the feeder lately, but with snow coming, today should be busy.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Busy morning had 7 white throated sparrows on my deck at once
Why is it the birds are always hiding on the other side of the feeder and you can't get a clear pic of it?

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Just saw a delightful movie about birding, called The Big Year. Makes me want to go out and identify lots of birds. Instead, I think I'll work on improving the bird feeders as soon as the ground thaws and we can mount a pole.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

trying to decide if i refill the feeders or just wait until spring bear season is over - bear was not seen last year although it was the previous three prior - they really damage the feeders so might just do a half fill of seed and one block of suet.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

You liked that movie? I thought with that cast it should have been SO much funnier, I was really disappointed in it

Great sighting, Debi.....Bill, the suet might be attracting the bear.....try just seed.

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Movie suggestion- The Parrots of Telegraph Hill. Sweet movie about wild parrots in San Francisco and the guy who decided to take care of them.

I really like that green feeder of yours Jen, is that the squirrel buster?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yes squirrel buster plus and yes it does work

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

I thought that was a good bird movie too.

Woke up to a pair of Carolina wrens singing their heart out even with the snow!

Thomaston, CT

Love their song, & they are just such pretty little birds.......my birding buddy said he saw a mallard-northern pintail hybrid down at the dam....guess I'll have to go looking as it is pretty rare.
