im looking for really big plastic pots.. mostly for potting up
my biggest amorphophallus corms.. plastic pots in 40 gal + size
not the squat ones.. but with some height..
im in utah..but open to have them shipped in if i have to..

OMG Those are big. I love containers but only know of K-Mart 20 inch dia ones. They must be 15 gal maybe.
Can you Google? especially the size?
Buy big trash cans from Ace Hardware - they are less than $10.
You might check with some of the local ranchs, some buy tubs of minerals for the livestock. They may not be as large as you want but it would be a start. The trashcan idea also sounds good, some have wheels. Good luck. Fred
My drycleaner gets chemicals in what look like half barrels. He saved a bunch and used them as planters in front of his business. also you might get food barrels and cut them in half. Also some nurseries or landscape services discard tree containers after an installation. You might ask about saving them for you.
I second what Steadycam says about asking a local nursery/landscape business to save some of their containers for you. Many will do that, including the nursery where I work. We make it a habit to save containers because there are always customers who come in needing one (or 3) of a certain size... DEFINITELY worth checking into!!

Very large landscape companies have them also. When I need some, I call my landscape's main office. They are usually just piled up in the back area of the company. They actually delivered them to me.

I'm quite certain my neighbors think I'm nuts too, but probably for different reasons. Might have something to do with singing LOUDLY while I've got my iPod plugged into my head (and it's often Latino music that I'm singing, HA!). =)

im getting some good ideas from posts here on "making" my own
huge pots.. big 55gal heavy plastic garbage cans look like a possible
good way to go..
and putting in calls to local landscaping places..
i gather up plastic pots every yr..and sure enough..i always have uses
for them..
some i give offshoots/separations to plants to friends..and pot them up
in 2 gal pots..luckily they do find their way home..

Around here 55 gal. plastic barrels sell for $10, cut them in two and you have 2 - 25 gal. pots put some drain holes in and your good to go. good luck Fred.
... I wonder how one of those really big square trash cans on wheels would work for you.. you'd be able to move it around more easily, AND you'd have great drainage with the clearance from the ground. Just an idea. =)

A big box store or concrete yard might have concrete-mixing troughs. HD had some that were VERY heavy-duty but not super-expensive.
What about going to a farm store and checking on watering troughs for cattle or horses. Some of them are up to 3ft. tall and 3 to 8 ft. wide. Good luck, Fred
