sealing gourds for outside

Center, TX

does anyone know what to seal gourds with so they can be used outside as garden art? Thanks, Alda

I think you can use exterior polyurethane. It will yellow with age and should be reapplied each year. I think its also advisable to bring the gourd art in for the winter season.

I had made a "toad village" in which I put untreated gourds on the ground for the little guys to have shelter. Everything that had been in contact with the ground had totally disappeared a year later. Just FYI. If you open the gourds up at all you probably need to seal the inside, too.
