My hostas are moving (sometime very very soon) from their current too-sunny location. The tops are all frost-killed. Instead of waiting for Spring to send up new shoots, anyone move in the Fall?

Up here November is winter. Waay too late to move hostas.
We have 60-65 F afternoons and 30s at night. The ground isn't close to freezing.
Moving so late in the year make plants prone to frost heave over the winter. I moved some in September last year under similar conditions to yours and had the issue. I would mark the plants you plan to move (make them easy to find) and move them in the early spring.
