Google lead me to many sites and they are almost equally divided on the subject. I live up north and pruning Apples trees is easy - no water sprouts. But my indoor Citrus trees may be in a different catagory?? I'm thinking any new leaves can only add to the overall health of the tree but they are often "ugly." What do you think?
Citrus - water sprouts? Yeah or Nay?
Are they sprouts coming up from below the graft? If so then you need to prune them out. I assume you have a dwarf/patio citrus tree, they are always grafted, typically onto bitter orange rootstock (Poncirus trifoliata)
I know what you mean. Yes, mostly grafted trees. These are water sprouts from the tree not the rootstock.
