I have a few Hadeco blooms from Eden Blooms that have already flowered. They came at the end of September.
The first is Barotse. The color is very pretty, in some light it looks like a dark raspberry, it other light it looks more red. The flower is long lasting.
What's in bloom today.
May I ask why you cut your blooms and place them in bud vases? Is it for personal enjoyment or is there a benefit to the bulbs by doing so?
Vesuvious is a stunner.
There's no benefit to cutting them. I keep my first year bulbs in a south facing unheated glass porch for the winter. I have a terrible problem with fungus knats in that room. I keep that room closed off from the rest of the house to contain the knats, which otherwise would become a real pest in the living areas of the house. I enjoy the flowers on my kitchen windowsill as cut flowers. They last as long, or perhaps even a day or two longer, as they would uncut. Of course I am not trying to produce seed. Once the bulbs have their first year's bloom, I plant them outside in dedicated Amaryllis beds, and after a year or two of recovery, they bloom in March-April. We have occasional frost where I live, but mulch on the beds during the winter keeps the bulbs from freezing solid.
Thank you for the explanation. Makes perfect sense and am so envious you're able to leave yours in the ground. Mine spend Summer vacation on our screened in back porch and then bring the pots in around mid-October or so, depending on the night time temps. Not one has bloomed yet in Summer.
Alfresco began blooming today, a new one received a few weeks ago.
nice photo: I like the way you posed the bloom. The bloom on my Alfresco flower reminds me of the blooms on my gardenia.
I like Rozetta. Yours is very pretty.
This is the first one of my Dutch bulbs to come into bloom. Full House from American Meadows. The bloom is about 5 inches or 13 cms across, so its midsize between a miniature and a standard. Its more of a blood red than the photo shows. One of this cultivar's characteristics is having at least 6 flowers / scape. I like the crisp appearance of the white star. This cultivar is also sold as Tres Chic

Intokazi, the old reliable white from Hadeco, that is very commonly seen in boxed bulbs sold for Xmas. When some of the buds open, a few faint pink "veins" can be seen which disappear in a day or two. On the first scape of this bulb, 2 of the 4 buds had this pink. According to Emaryllis.com, the pink defect is a problem found in some of the current Intokazi stock.
Thank you, I am officially a senior citizen today. Your Royal Velvet sounds like it was a "mother bulb". 3 flower scapes is pretty unusual.
well my big papillo bulb is just sending a flower spike up now..
yea.. i'll tak pic when opens..
i have 3 side bulbets..after the bloom..i plan to unpot..put the
mama bulb in a bigger pot..and pot up babies..
Very nice, but check your ID on DG plant files. The cultivar Susan is pink. Could you have received this as a mislabelled bulb? I've already had 3 mislabelled bulbs this year.
The box said Susan. Maybe the flash makes it look different?
