Take heed: coleus plants are sensitive to cold.

Stamford, CT(Zone 6b)

Now that it is fall, our nights are beginning to get pretty cool. I lost a number of plants this past spring when the temperatures dipped at night. Nowhere near freezing, it was probably in the low 40s. I lost a number of plants that had been lovingly tended during the winter. So did the garden centers.

I'm sure the neighbors got a chuckle watching me bring coleus indoors tonight. Some are just sitting on the front porch in a protected area.

I will have to be sending cuttings soon.

40's are not good for the plants. Some struggle and make it but others show damage right away with leaves dropping off.

We are lucky. Here in this part of FL we can keep them in a greenhouse & only have to supply heat a few nights during the 'winter'.
