tomato scraps in my compost

Sterling Heights, MI(Zone 5b)

is it ok to put tomato scraps in my compost ,thinking i might end up with a tomato farm if i use them.

I don't see how it could be bad. I often have seeds sprout in my compost - Snow Peas for sure. I figure it all goes to feed the micro-organisms, and then later, my plants.

If your heap isn't big enoguh to get hot and cook the seeds, hopefully it will be moist enough to sprout them. Or worms and bugs will eat them. I certainly hope all those things to the weed seeds that get into my heap!

I was surprised that of all the tomatoes that fell and rotted in one bed, no seed ever sprouted that I saw. I guess turnin g the soil once or twice diswcouraged them. Or was it the long, cold spring and short, cool sumer? Or do slugs like young tomatoes? I don't know ...

Might get a few sprouts, no big deal. Sometimes you get good tomatos that way, more often not so special. YOu can chop the sporuts back in to the compost .
