Advise needed on Gaultheria Procumbens Wintergreen

Whitesburg, TN(Zone 6b)

I am buying a piece of property and it has an extra home-site that has been recently excavated. There is a Tennessee clay hill now, on one side of the excavated site. Already, water erosion has begun to wash the hill down onto the home-site. I am thinking of planting Gaultheria Procumbens (American Wintergreen) to prevent any more erosion. My questions are:

Will wintergreen grow in the stickiest of clay?

Will wintergreen grow well in 8 to 10 hours of sun?

Is there any particular variety or sub-species that produces more wintergreen oil?

Is there any variety or sub-species that produces good edible berries? Many things can be eaten, but only a few actually taste good.

And, lastly, do you have any seeds or cuttings of these special species that you would be willing to sell me?

Thank you for the help,

Mike
