Reddish Brown and Tan Snake

Aurora, CO(Zone 4a)

A friend of mine is camping in South Texas, and she sent me this photo of a snake she encountered. Since she's sleeping on ground level with this reptile, I'm hoping somebody can tell me that he's not poisonous. Thank you for your help.

Gopher snakes are harmless, but used to scare the living bejesus out of me when I was growing up in West Texas. Thank you for the information!

I was at Houston Reservoir in 1970 when the water cobra invasion took place.Nine people actually died that year, dozens of snake bites there and around the country that year. Never did figure out if those were Thai cobras, western water cobras or Southern Mississippi Giant water moccasins Big old things they were though!!

And your Welcome. Those things do have a way of sneaking up and startling a person.
