Wanted to post pics of this guy. Heat here has been ridiculous. heat index sustained of ~105 for last month!
At any rate, this my Hupp's dwarf has grown like a weed. it was aquired around mid may and had grown at least 5 inches in this time period. Seems contrary to the writings about this cultivar being slow growing.
Hupp's Dwarf
nice - looks like you have a few!
I do have about 27 different cultivars. The heat here has been unforgiving. No rains to boot.
Of all 27, the one affected most by the pure heat is the peaches and cream. It lives in full shade also but its still crisping very slowly. I would have sworn the Karasu gawa would have been the one to have issues but its doing just fine. Putting on new growth since I got it. Its become one of my favorites for sure. Some leaves are half white half green, some are speckeled white green and pink, sime are all white, some are all green some are half green half white.. beautiful tree.
here's column A from my spreadsheet. I use the sheet to keep track of name, origination, and where its located on my property. I do also dated notes on some trees. handy to have.

how much difference so you see in the geisha's?
my geisha looks nothing like i see in pictures. its leaves are green with blue-ish spots.
the geisha gone wild has taken on a lime green color on the new growth.
