Hello, my husband bought this "Japanese Maple" about 30 - 35 years ago. It is the tree on the right that I am talking about. It is about 30 - 40' tall (you can see the house in the background), has green on the other side of the HUGE leaves, does not split in the horrible storms, and has not had any babies from seeds naturally sown (no one has tried to gather them).
It is darker than any Japanese Maple I've seen, rivaling any ornamental Plum.
I want to buy at least one of these, and am very confused about it. Can anyone please help me? I'm afraid that the seeds are not a realistic way to propagate it. Sure looks like a Crimson King, but that, of course, is NOT a JM, and it lacks most of the characteristics, even down to the roots - none above ground.
Please help identify this "Japanese Maple!"
Looks like Crimson King (Norway Maple)
