hello fellow gardeners
I was wondering if any of you from the Milwaukee-Madison area would have an idea as to where one could obtain good quality compost for reasonable prices?
thanks!
compost question
2 places in the Madison area have been suggested to me. Olbrich Garden has leaf compost. I don't know if there is any left, as it was being sold at the annual plant sale about a month ago. The other (which I haven't checked yet) is the Wisconsin Agricultural Station..Mineral Point Road in Madison.
The compost site near me used to take in garden/lawn clippings..but it has been bought up by local business person..the compost is for sale at garden center..has so much wood in it..doesn't hold water. The cost was no bargain.
Have you checked local botanical gardens?..or maybe garden clubs?
Good luck..
Thanks for the tips Marcia.
I also found that Madison county sells compost at their Verona facility. the prices are very reasonable.
