Ideas for cleaning my pruners?

Hi all!

I committed a cardinal sin and did not wipe down my Felco hand pruners right after I used them. When I went to clean them up the next day, even rubbing them down with WD-40 and a rag left some "goo" on them and a faint rust line that had developed. Can I use something like "goo gone" on them? Or should I stick with the WD-40 and use some steel wool?
