Hostas in pots in zone 4?

Charlotte, VT

I have heard of many people keeping hostas in pots over the winter. Could I do that even though winters get very cold in zone 4?

Oquawka, IL(Zone 5a)

I'm zone 5 and tried it last year. I didn't have any trouble, no losses. But it was a very mild winter here, so can't really say it's going to be okay if we have a normal winter. I hope so, because it makes it pretty easy to get ready for winter if you don't have everything planted!

I'm in Zone 3 and I have a pot of Mini's that I overwintered in a Pot but...... I sunk it into a bigger pot and convered it with a big bag of styro peanuts and put it in a detached garage and I only lost Itsy Bitsy Spider. We do go to -40 so I was concerned but pleasantly surprised. I also sunk some other mini's into my garden and they are all ok. So it's a bit of a gamble but worth a try if you want.
