I saw one of these last year, and pulled it out as a weed. Now there are more in the same area - tall, spindly, almost viny but they do try to stand up. In a mostly shade corner.
I googled around, but didn't find anything - hoping some of the experts here will know.

It is a little difficult to tell from the picture---But the bloom looks like an angelonia. However, it is not a perennial. Check out this info from DG and see if this is your plant.

I checked out the angelonia link - not it. The leaves are different and the blooms are as well. I'll try to get a better photo.

Aha! Folks on the Plant ID forum agreed it was some type of Campanula, and one said Campanula Elizabeth. As soon as I read "Campanula," I knew it had come from my daughter Stacy (sstateham on DG), I remembered her talking about them, and she has given me quite a few plants, mostly perennials. I called her and it's Campanula Elizabeth. It's in almost total shade with about 2 hours of morning sun, and seems to be reseeding itself there among the hardy begonias.
Now I know! I think I'll try to start some of it in another shady area on the north side and see how it does. Thanks!
