More clem newbie questions

Grosse Pointe Shores, MI(Zone 6a)

I think I've got a handle on the pruning groups of clems, but there is another "group" designation that I've seen on plant descriptions that I don't understand.

In addition to "early large" and "late large", etc. I've seen: viticella; texensis; integrifolia; florida; atragene; texensis-viorna; diversifolia; herbaceous; montana and forsteri. Are there any I missed?

Could anyone tackle this large list? I'd like to understand what those terms mean so that I can better plan for growth habits and needs before I just go out and buy first. (Which I have already done.)

Also, if it's not part of the answer to the above, how do you know if a clem is vining or non-vining?

TIA,
Katherine

Your best bet is to Google each one, such as...Clematis atragene. There are so many names and I don't know them all (very few).
