Yellow Mangosteen, Garcinia xanthochymus

noonamah, Australia

It's the first time I've noticed fruit on my largest Yellow Mangosteen tree, Garcinia xanthochymus. The tree was there when I bought the place so I estimate it's age as being at least 12 years, if not more. I have a smaller one I bought labeled as the Purple Mangosteen, Garcinia mangostana, but soon after realised it was also the yellow one. I still want the purple one, but they are expensive, and then difficult to grow - good rich soil and constant high humidity. Anyhow, it's good to see fruit on this one. Now that it's had the first crop, future ones should get a lot heavier.
