This was outside our house yesterday. Could anyone help with the id so that we can make sure it's not poisonous.

As I understand it, the only poisonous ones that do not have a triangular shaped head are coral snakes, which this is not.
But please get a second opinion from someone more experienced before you pick it up!
It reminds me of a black racer which is a good snake
That looks to be a black racer, they are a good snake to have, they won't hurt you. This one has been in my garden for years now.
