How early do you plant lettuce seeds in Maine?

I have always planted a patch of lettuce before anything else. We tend to eat chef salads of all sorts for 5 or 6 weeks in the spring. This spring has been so early, I'm wondering if I could plant now???? In a couple of weeks?????

I usually don't plant before the end of April - 1st of May.
