CLOSED: It's time for the froggie swap reveal!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Many people don’t know the difference between frogs and toads. They are quite different animals, although they belong to the same animal group.

Frogs:

Need to live near water
Have smooth, moist skin that makes them look “slimy”.
Have a narrow body
Have higher, rounder, bulgier eyes
Have longer hind legs
Take long high jumps
Have many predators

Toads:
Do not need to live near water to survive
Have rough, dry, bumpy skin
Have a wider body
Have lower, football shaped eyes
Have shorter, less powerful hind legs
Will run or take small hops rather than jump
Do not have many predators. Toad’s skin lets out a bitter taste and smell that burns the eyes and nostrils of its predators, much like a skunk does.

And neither frogs nor toads will give you warts! That is just a myth.

LK, Thank you for the frog-toad comparison!!!!

I'm a toad lover since I live in the trees and only have a few frogs in my tiny pond, but plenty of toads in the yard and garden!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Sorry everyone I have just been working nonstop....finally saw daylight for the first time this morning since Monday....gotta love computers.....

Boy we narrowly escaped a FREEZE, not a frost....I was really worried about my peach trees they are loaded with little tiny peaches, let alone all the roses with buds and everything.... hope you all don't get the cold who are down wind of Missouri....Next that is coming they say are flooding rains...I need some rain but we can forget the flood part....

Cathy sent you my addr....

Clarksville, TN(Zone 7a)

Frost predicted here last night, but it didn't materialize. It did drop back into the 30s again though and is supposed to be even colder tonight. People are scrambling to cover strawberry crops, fruit trees, tomatoes, tropicals ... etc. So far, so good.

My box is on its way *somewhere* and should be there Saturday. ^_^

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Cville, you were probably like us and really warm for a long extended time and everything has really popped.....we are suppose to be cold again tonight but haven't looked yet to see how worried I will be...rofl...all my strawberries are in bloom big time...didn't think about them.

(Mary) Anchorage, AK(Zone 4b)

We're sitting at a somewhat normal 30F this morning. trace clouds so hoping for more sun to melt more snow. Will shovel more off my beds out front - only 10' horizontally and 5' vertically to shovel. lol
