Baby rabbits in bottom of compost pile

Enterprise, AL(Zone 8b)

I was moving one of my smaller compost piles this morning and uncovered a nest of baby rabbits, don't know how many but at least two and maybe three. There was a lot of fur in the nest and it made it hard to make out the rabbits. I was afraid to just cover them back up, afraid not to also. It started to rain so I just built a circular nest of compost around them turned the wheelbarrow upside down to protect them from the rain and used the shovel to elevate one edge of the wheelbarrow so if the mother comes back she could get to them. What should I do now?

Keep an eye out to see if mom comes back.
If she doesn't, and SOON - 6 hours since you found them - call wildlife management/rescue if you have one.
You could call animal control to get a referral.
BUT tell animal control the bunnies aren't hurting anything and you don't want AC to pick them up.

Babies need to be fed OFTEN so if mom doesn't do it they'll get really hungry really fast!
