It's early April in the Chicago area. This shrub is about 7 feet high and 7 feet wide. Nice rounded shape with lateral branching habit. Anybody have an idea what it is?
Mystery Shrub...can someone help ID?
Looks like a Viburnum plicatum var. tomentosum. Not sure on the cultivar.
I was hoping to wait for the original poster to add some more images, with full leaves.
But I cannot hold my tongue...opposite vs. alternate! I think this plant has clearly alternate arrangement, so it cannot be a Viburnum sp.
It reminds me a lot of Crataegus sp. in some sense, but the moment of this image allows no leaf to examine nor any dormant buds that I can make out.
Gardenhack should offer more pictures.
I can't see the arrangement on this one, either way. Need more pics.
