Louisiana vs Japanese

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I believe my old koi pond is finally plantable this year. It cracked due to tree roots and all efforts to repair it failed but it will hold fair amt of water for an extended time (2-3 days to drain thur drainage pipe in bottom)when we get a large amt of rainfall so I need to know which would be best for an area that will stay boggy during rainy and winter season....Loiusiana or Japanese, before I start ordering.

Look away from the weedy flowerbeds and grass that needs mowing...it's been raining...you don't see that...you don't see that...*G*

I suggest the LA. JI don't like their 'feet' wet in winter.

I thought I had read that somewhere. So I will either plant the JI in a moist bed or buckets and sink them in the pond then remove them during the winter

good idea

Does your water freeze in the winter? If not Japanese would be great. Why not try one or two. But for a mass planting to be safe I'd go Louisiana.

PS, I don't see the weeds in my own garden, I'm sure not going to look for them in yours. LOL
