DAYLILY ALPHABET - P's
WOW,Joy, what pinks you have ! I have very few.
Thanks Corgimom, I went on a pinks kick a couple years ago! LOL
Wow Joy!!! I thought I had a lot of P's. You sure have a lot, lol.
And my S's are even crazier. I counted 105 S's. Thought not all have bloomed, but most have. LOL I went wild getting daylilies over the last few years.
Mike, love the saturated red in Prairie Wildfire. I tried the pinestraw in several beds last year ( I have no trees myself, had to buy it ) and my beds got covered in weeds anyway (brought in by the pine needles ???) . So this past fall we went to get loads of the cities' composted leaves and put that out as mulch. Now, this spring, they are covered in weeds again. These are weeds I didn't have in my beds beforehand. I would pull my hair out but I don't have much left ! Do any of you use Preen around daylilies ? It used to say on the pkg it was safe around daylilies but now the list one specific daylily only that is safe to use it on. ( sorry everyone, this is not a discussion thread, I know. Maybe someone can answer me on another thread.)

Weeds can fly over from neighboring lands. The mulch/pinestraw helps keep weeds from spring up from your own ground. But if you have neighbors who don't take care of their lands, their seeds can land on top of your mulch and start growing. I put up a privacy fence to help with that issue. My neighbors have vacant lots that they mow infrequently, so their weed seeds were a constant battle. Since putting up the fence, it is not as much a problem.
I haven't used Preen but I keep threatening to. I've been focusing instead on covering every inch of my property with the plants I want to keep weeds from really having a chance to grow. In beds that are crowded, I don't have many weeds to contend with. But in new beds that I haven't filled yet, I still get weeds.

Wow Joy! Lots of P's and 105sés Holy Moly!! Thanks for the comment on Peacock Maiden, That one does really well for me.
PEACOCK MAIDEN is one dl I really miss having ! I would love to get it again as it was one that drew everyones attention when it was in bloom.
3 of us have posted pictures of Pink Peppermint. It sure is interesting to see how different it looks in everyone's garden.
Cindy, I love how pink your Pink Peppermint gets. Mine does sometimes.
I love Peacock Maiden too and keep meaning to add it to my garden. I'm going to have to cull some more older daylilies out if I'm going to add any more.
I love Phantom Returns too, with that large purple eye. I bet that one stands out in the garden.
Thanks!!! I am not sure it will look like that this year though. Last year I had moved it to a different location so I am thinking the way it looked was a fluke. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens this year now that it is more settled in.
Seedsower, I like Pug Yarborough.
