Zone 7 for Japanese or Siberian Iris??

Corrales, NM

I live in NM where it gets cold in the winter (30 degrees to 10 sometimes) and in the summer, normally 95 up to 110. My soil is very sandy.
I grow lots of bearded iris, most of which do well. My question---would the Japanese or Siberian do well here. I realize I would probably
have to amend the soil?? and water more often. Also what nurseries would you recommend? thanks

Duluth, GA(Zone 7b)

Here are a list of nurseries posted in pirl's thread from 2009 for her Japanese irises. I'm in zone 7a/7b, and the Siberians and JI do well here. I do have clay soil so I do amend it with soil conditioner. Be sure to look at the Garden Watchdog to check these companies out before ordering.

Siberian Iris Gardens (they sell JI's as well): http://www.siberianirisgardens.com/

I never have looked at Aitkens but have ordered from Ensata and Siberian Iris Gardens and SnowPeak. All are good.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did look up several of the companies you suggested, and they were very reasonable. I like
the fact that they bloom later than the Bearded. This would be nice as the past two years, we had very warm weather in
April and then a late two night freeze which zapped my mid-blooming bearded buds. I wish I knew something to protect
them.
