NWF's partnership with Scotts.

Some of you might know about NWF's (National Wildlife Foundation) recent partnership with Scotts, who make products such as Roundup and the fertilizer line, Miracle Gro. In the "green" world, this is caused a BIG uproar.
I just read the open letter from NWF, written in response to peoples concerns. It seems that NWF feels that working with Scotts can help the company in it's environmental efforts.
Here is a link to the whole letter:

I want to see how this plays out. It might be that I'm being blindingly naive in thinking NWF does have good intentions, but I have a hard time believing that they would give up their mission to $$.
I have worked with them before on the Federal level and they were very influential in making sure the environment was protected in regulations.

Wow. That letter, http://www.nwf.org/About/Corporate-Relationships/Scotts-Miracle-Gro-Company.aspx, is a bit different!
I wasn't surprised, but found it interesting that Scott's never mentioned any of this, the partnership, etc., on their website.
Seems that NWF thought working together was much more important than Scotts did.
On a side note, Scotts makes Osmocote. Crap! I love Osmocote.

Scuttlebutt has it that Scott's initiated the relationship because they knew they were losing the lawsuit. They were tying to make friends before the "official" bad news came out.

A birder friend sent me a FB link to the announcement of the partnership; there was a petition against it to be signed. Instead I responded to their latest email to me about my yearly contribution and wrote that if they went ahead with that partnership I'd never donate again. I think there was a lot of fury over this.

Glad I caught this thread!

Glad you protested with your wallet. I can understand the NWF's need for cash and a huge corporate donation would certainly help but talk about sleeping with the enemy.......

How could you get in bed with those people....?

LOL (it would probably smell like herbicide or pesticide.)

How much was the donation? Anybody know?

Along the same lines, pesticides are implicated in bee colony collapse:
