They're saying now, not arson, possibly an old lightning strike that had been smouldering a while before it took hold.

I just read the update...It had a lighting rod tho...and I was just talking with a friend who's an Arborist and he's doesn't agree with the Dept. Of Ag guy. In any case...still very sad to see happen.

Saw a comment on another forum from someone 'out west' with good experience of wildfires, he said that small fires in big stumps can go on smouldering almost undetectably for over a month.
