Partitioning a hard drive

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

I've got a new PC with a 1TB hard drive. It has Windows 7 installed on it and I don't have the installation disk. I'd like to partition this hard drive without having to reinstall Windows. I don't have much personal data on it yet, and I could copy what I have to a flash drive. But I can't afford to lose the Win 7 install if I partition the drive. I know over time, if I don't partition, the amount of data I'll end up storing on it will slow the system down.

Can I partition this drive without losing or having to reinstall Win 7? And if so, how? Thank you for any assistance you can give me.
