Winter Iris aka Algerian Iris aka Iris unguicularis

Dahlonega, GA(Zone 7b)

I planted 3 cultivars of Winter iris last spring. Also known as Algerian Iris and Iris unguicularis.

Its quite nice to see them blooming today on Christmas Eve. Actually 1 or another of the cultivars seems to be blooming each week in rotation. They are supposed to grow into nice clumps after a few years, so am looking forward to watching them spread out some more.

The three blooming now are Mary Barnard's I believe.

That's so nice to see in the dead of winter. I had an old white iris to rebloom against the sw side of the house this week, just before the arctic blast of 20 degree temps..
