is this an orchid? type?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone would identify this plant, which may be an orchid. Found growing in the rain forest of Chiapas, MX (825 m. elev.)
Thanks kindly.

It looks like either a Cycnoches or Catesetum. I can't ID it for sure. Both are orchids and both have species represented in Mexico. How big was the plant?

Pretty big. It had a flower (?) stalk about 1" around. It was growing on the ground.

Cycnoches egertonianum Bateman Dressler 1685 (GH). and Cycnoches ventricosum Bateman are in Breedlove's (1086) collection for Chiapas.

There are a number of Cycnoches from Mexico. You know, I'd send the photo to Andy at Andy's Orchids and ask him. http://www.andysorchids.com/ He grew up living part time in Mexico and definitely knows Mexican orchids. Watch, I'm probably all wrong here. But do let me know what you find out.

Thanks. I will.
Best,
