Virginia Iris question

I had to divide a lot of blue flags this year. I plan to sell them in pots at the spring plant sale at the museum. Can they be kept out of the soil, much like gladiolas, throughout the winter?

I would pot them up and then trench them to protect them from freezing and thawing. Add some pine straw mulch and you should be good til spring.

Ok, I did. They are under some azalea bushes, in pots and should be ok. Thanks for the help
