We had very high winds recently and I was amused as I watched the bluebirds try to hang on against the wind.

The female bailed out right away but the male held on, or tried to.

But he was fighting a losing battle. But at least I was able to get some good wing shots as he tried

And he did try

At times it seemed he was hanging on by a fingernail

But the wind gusts continued

And he finally gave up and flew away.

Gorgeous shots Cousin Dave, that surely has made my day! Thank you. I believe I may have two pairs Ruddy Ducks passing through during their migratory journey.

I got 4 lifers yesterday! Only took decent pics of 3 of them though. This is a really odd year b/c the drought has forced a lot of western bird eastward like this Pyrrhuloxia.

This was a lifer too an Eastern Towhee.

Didn't get a pic of the Fox Sparrows. I couldn't get close enough to them, but did get a couple of the Harris' Sparrows.

Last one of my 4th lifer -- Harris' Sparrow.

Not a great photo because I was upstairs when I heard these Bushtits enjoying a bath. They sure are happy little birds.

Here's a House Finch enjoying the water-still has crushed berries on the bill.
