Storing Dahlias

Chillicothe, OH(Zone 5a)

How should I store my Dahlia tubers? I dug them today, washed the dirt off, let dry them put in zip loc bags filled with peat then put in the cellar. Will this work?

Nett sounds good to me I do the same thing except I put them in paper bags.Oh and make sure they are really good and dry or they will mold and rot especially if your putting them in plastic bags.

If I may jump in, if you have just dug the tubers up, cut off the foliage to a 1 inch or so stem and store upside down until dry. As Mystic says put them in paper if you need to put them in anything rather than plastic bags.

Don't store them in Plastic bags use paper bags.
Plastic may hold moisture and cause mold.

You can also use sawdust to store tehm in.

Yes in Zone 5 you have to dig them and store in a cool place until spring.
