greetings fellow gardeners ;]
anybody have a lot of hands-on experience with the rather large and confusing group of leucadendrons that have red foliage and/or flowers for part (or all?) of the year? perhaps someone who has some nursery experience who has seen different varieties and cultivars come through. i am basically looking for a leucadendron that will be red--a bright red, not wine or burgundy-- and not with yellow or white in the leaves (like 'Jester'). just RED. as red as possible for as much a part of the year as possible. i've found it rather nebulous about what colour all the different varieties are *during* the *time* of the* year *that *they* are* NOT* the* 'special, intense' *colour* for which they've been selected. how much do which kinds revert back to their usual green? are there any that stay red all year round? or at least go from bright red to darker red? (not crazy @red&green together except at xmas time ) fyi, i'm in northern california. is there a simple answer???
thanks in advance!!! p.s. i'm a proteaceae-ophile!!!
