Sorry choochoo I just now saw this post. I hope mini gardeners will see it and start posting. I love my mini gardens and living in a one bedroom apartment I don't have room for much other that mini container gardens so it is a perfect hobby for me.

I'm here, I'm here ((jumping and waving))!! Hi y'all! Sorry that I just now saw this thread!

ridesredmule, love the pond and minis!

I'm going nuts not having the time to create some minis with all the plants and goodies I've received lately. Maybe after the holidays I can get back into playing.

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

Hi everyone. If you didn't see it on another thread, I wanted to let you know about my next mini garden project. A friend gave me an old bed pan she found in an abandoned house scheduled to be torn down. She imediately thought of me! She knows me so well and that I can find a use for most anything! I was talking to Choochoo and she suggested making an outhouse garden! I loved that idea. So now I've gotta save pennies for a mini outhouse! Hope there will be room in it for a clothes line! This is gonna be a hoot to create. I can't wait to get started. I'm trying to decide on plants to use. I've got a lot of baby tears for ground cover but the opening is only 7 inches and rule #1 is don't crowd. Probably just have one small tree and the baby tears. I'll have to wait till I gather everything together then see what I can use. I'll keep y'all updated as it progresses.

I think it's a great challenge! I bet you could place a "T-pole" through the spout portion and run a clothesline over to the outhouse or tree to hang lil garments on (underwear?)... that would help to save ground space for planting, hehehe. You'll need a path to the privy, too!

My g-g-dad had his outhouse in the hog lot. There was a toll to be escorted by Ol' Charlie (the resident hog) by scratching his back with a wire brush which g-g-dad kept hanging on the gate to the lot . . . oh the memories this brings up, lol.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

going to need a small outhouse, Where you going to sit it??? I made but it wouldn't fit that it is a two seater for sure.
But , great idea..

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

Bev, the pole is a great idea. Thanks for that. I plan to use a flagstone path set in tiny pebbles to the "privy". Love the Ol' Charlie story. I sat in an outhouse once for 2 hours before Mom came looking for me cause a snake was by the door!

Char, I found a double decker outhouse that was only like 3"x2"x8". Maybe I can cut it in half and just use the top one. I never heard of a double decker outhouse before. Can you imagine being the one using the bottom one and someone else in the top???

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I found my pattern, need to get you a picture Don't I?????
I'd leave it like it is, if it were me, I'd probably break it.

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

I've seen 2-seater outhouses in actual use, but I thought the double-deckers (one atop another) were practical joke privies!

I agree with Char, don't break the outhouse you have. I think you could make one out of twigs, or popsicle sticks, the size you need!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

If you can get Balsa wood you can make your own. do you need a pattern??? You all know I got one.

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

I would love to have the pattern for the outhouse! Balsa wood wouldn't last very long out doors would it? I don't know? If I have to get the double decker and cut it in half I would use my Dremmel tool. I use it at any excuse I can find. (I have 4 of them!) Family members keep giving them to me for Christmas cause they all know how I love them. :o)

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

There is nothing wrong with that. You have a pair and one to spare if one breaks down.
I got it from a book that I've had for years. You can also make them of a thin Birch, I've gotten several pieces of it.
I'll work on it for you and mail it.

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

Thank you so much! I'm excited!

Oh my gosh, Char, your Santa garden is absolutely adorable. Love every detail! What is the overall size? I even spied a bottle of bubbly :)

Merry Christmas to All!

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Hahaha, that's so cool! You have a Merry Christmas too!!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

1'' equals 1 foot...I'll have to measure the little space for you. So glad you like it. Guess what??? I even made the Santa. Sometimes I surprise myself..
Merry Christmas, my friends....

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

Maybe I'm biased toward Christmas decorations, Char, but I really think your diorama is among your best work. You and so many others have given me inspiration to try my hand and recently bought a multi-color box of no-fire clay "ropes" and figured if I mess up my first attempts, the clay can be smushed and used again.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Oh, Fruity you are going to love it. Wait til you see my bunnies.....

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Yep, she will be hooked like the rest of us soon, haha!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

It doesn't take much if it's a good thing.....

Blue Ridge Mtns, VA(Zone 7a)

I'm definitely inspired. Ho Ho Ho!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

hehehe!! You ours now!! Hooked, like a fish on a line....Need any help just you Hollar, Missy......

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Fruity, I will get you some pictures. o.k.????

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Fruity, just bought some irish moss at wal-marts couple days ago.
I went to little gh where I had it and brought it in for your picture set up of Easter bunnies.
Here is group without grass. Then here they are in the moss. I put quarters in there so you could see the size comparison.
They look so cute..Now I got to make more......
Thank you((((Fruity)))

Great job, Char, and how adorable!

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

I got that iris moss at Wal-marts. I hope I can make it live.
Thank you dear....My pleasure...

Southwest, VA(Zone 6a)

Yes, really cute! Thanks for sharing. I have trouble with Irish moss and Brass Buttons. I think they're both so beautiful, but they don't like me or maybe my yard, lol.

Barnesville (Charle, GA(Zone 8b)

Me too! I don't know how long these will last but they were so pretty, I had to try it again....
Thank you...

I love the little bunnies! I made some snails from fimo this winter, and some new mushrooms.
I need to do some clipping on my fairy garden tree before I take some photos, it's grown like 3 inches the last month and the fairies are now hiding under a bush!
I really love to see what everyone is making.

Wiggins, MS(Zone 8b)

Hi there Domehomedee, Welcome to our little mini garden chat. What kind of "fairy garden tree" do you have? Three inches growth in only a month is quite a lot, but I love to see the fairies "hiding" under the trees and shrubs. My vision is not so good and between that and hand tremors I'm unable to make the tiny items so I just enjoy seeing everyone else's. Post pics of your creations when you get a chance, ok? We'd all love to see them. Have you been making fairy gardens long?

Prescott, AZ(Zone 7b)

Here are some pics of a couple of my mini gardens. I had an old Weber barbeque and decided it would make two perfect size mini gardens. I removed some of the hardware and painted the halves a rust color. The little house fronts are something I made in clay and then created a latex mold from. The finished project was cast in cement and painted. The little fairies I bought online. Not sure what the bush is but I love the black stems and bright green leaves. The Gnome home has an bonsai pine tree.
