Dunmor, KY(Zone 6a)

My aunt has stage 4 ovarian cancer. We are having a benifit for her on Nov. 19th. I am trying to find someone that would be willing to dig up some bannana trees & mail them to me ASAP. I will of course pay the shipping. We are wanting them to auction off at her benifit because i know they would sell good around here. would like to get as many as possable so if i can find more then 1 person that would be willing to do it, that would be great!

Bananas are going dormant in our area. I have already cut mine back.

I wish I had thought of it sooner & could had of probably gotten more donations. But when I was telling people about the benefit several people asked if we had any plants to auction off. We are trying to raise enough to help pay on her medical bills so the more stuff we can get the better. But I didnt think of it in time

There are cancer groups that will help with the bills. A few years ago, my doc thought I had cancer so I did some research for cancer groups and ran across several that had funding and other assistance for cancer patients. Some even pay for the gas to get back and forth to the doc's office and hospital and provide transport and support.

Hospitals often have charity programs that cover some of the medical bills too, so be sure to inquire at her hospital. Depending on her income, they may cover 50% or even 100% of the hospital bills. And around here, whatever portion the hospital covers, some of the other specialists (lab, radiologist, etc) will also forgive the same percentage. So with all that help, she may not have much left to pay herself. Someone somewhere in her community could point you in the right direction. Sometimes it's just hard to find the right someone.

She has medical insurance but when they did her surgery the hospital was suppose to use someone that was "in network" but didnt so her insurance wont pay for it. The benefit was honestly to give her piece of mind. She had the same life insurance policy for over 20 yrs but her payment got there one day late so they canceled it. She is worrying to death because she dont have the money to pay for a funeral & dont want to leave the bill for her kids. We raised a little over $3000 at the benefit though so hopefully that will help her rest a little easier.

If the hospital didn't use someone in network, ask her insurance company for a form that can be filled out and approved by a committee, so this bill will be covered. This happened with my husband when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. We obtained the form from OUR insurance office, filled it out, waited about 2 weeks and it was approved, per their words 'just this one time'.
