I had an old brown wood bookcase with no details. I added two rose appliques and 4 turned short legs. I had some left over beadboard wallpaper and added that to the back to give it a little more interest. Painted it white then glazed over all of it. It still looked like it needed something and a light bulb moment came when I thought of an old window frame that was about the same width. With a couple of hinges it transformed the bookcase.
