I had some fungus (brown leaves) at the bottom of my tomato plants when we left Maine on Aug 26th to baby sit our 14 month old grandson while his baby brother was born (!!!!). The potatoes looked perfect. When we returned 10 days later all of the tomato plants and all of the potatoes were as dead as can be. But there was no damage to either the tomatoes or the potatoes. My first thought was late blight again. But I believe it damages the tomatoes themselves. And the potatoes. Is that correct? Does anyone know what might have caused this? My potatoes were the kind that are most resistant to disease, according to Paris Farmers Union in South Paris, ME.

Late blight????
Late blight looks like someone has poured oil on the leaf....it's grey & greasy.....& yes, it affects the tomatoes & potatoes.....probably just the time of year....the foliage just dies off....all this rain has many fungi spores floating around....anthracnose has attacked the maples in CT.....very dull...mostly brown...maples this year....
