Definitely a flowering plant, not a moss - those brown things are the old flower heads / seed heads.

Good point. I guess ferns, fungi and mosses all grow from spores?

Yes.
The plant you show is a Petrophyton sp., a flowering plant, as Resin pointed out, rather than a fern, fungus or moss.

Thanks for showing the photos. I have a couple of insteresting native mosses here, if I can upload them - Not my best thing!
I live on the Queen Charlotte Islands.- Haida Gwaii in British Columbia. We are rainforest so moss is rampant, and we like it for the most part. I don't know the proper names of most of them, there are so many kinds.
